duNord is a rogue Ukranian computer program

Over at Ben Olsen's Beard they discuss the possibilities of what duNord actually is.

Q: Do you subscribe to the theory that duNord is actually a highly advanced computer program designed by Ukrainian scientists that has gone rogue and begun compiling U.S. Soccer News? .....

Having shared a bedroom with Bruce until I was 9, I can vouch for the fact that the personal computer had not been created yet and therefore could only be super computer in origin.

That said, I've never known computer programs to have the levels of halitosis that Bruce can have during the morning hours.

God Wins Super Bowl For The 12th Straight Year

I watched the game. I even enjoyed the game. Hell, I've watched football my whole life. I could swear that Indy won the game. But after the game, during the interviews, they all gave credit to Jesus. I didn't even see him play.

I would have thanked the Bears horrible offence. Or maybe God hates the Bears. That must be it.

Oh well, it was a good game. It should rain every year on the Super Bowl.

Good Bye. Don’t Let The Door …..

Many years ago I was at a MN Gopher basketball game and this man in front of me was really acting like a jackass. It was Glen Mason and he was sitting with someone that I assume was either a friend of his or someone from the athletic department. Mason had just been hired and was in town to sign his contract.

During the game he complained about his hotel room, food, people he had to meet (boosters), the long meetings he had to sit through, the crappy plane ride, and just about anything else you could think of. I made a promise right there that I would never go to a Gopher football game as long as he was coach.

Well I guess I can purchase some tickets now.

Upcoming Films

The Walker Art Center has a couple of interesting films that I am going to see. They are very different in style, statement and composure.

Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait; follows soccer great, Zinedine Zidane for an entire game with 17 cameras. The game moves in real time, there is no replay. The movie/game builds through its use of soundtrack by the band Mogwai, the crowd and the Spanish announcers. There is also a voice over of Zidane's voice in his head.

The other movie is the second feature by the Quay Brothers; The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes. The Quay Brothers a widely known for their dark animation pieces that have inspired many music video directors. The look of their animation always had a real weathered look and their use of old dolls gave things a real gothic quality.

I'm here at the Kelly Inn in St. Paul. The Germany vs. Costa Rica game has started and it is all action from the start. I am joined by 4 other guys watching on their large HD tele. 3 of the guys are British business men and the 4th is the manager of the bar. If you are working anywhere near here you can't go wrong. Free parking, free wifi and plenty of open seats.

Bringing Back the Cup

Many people that I know are heading off to Germany to go to the World Cup. I am very envious of them but there is no possible way that I could go. Instead I have upgraded my cable and will watch way too much TV over the next month.

My brother Bruce, over at du Nord, was written up on the CNN / Money web site as their favorite blog regarding soccer/football. Congrats to him.

Can you say Road Trip

Christian

Twice.

Only Twice.

Yes I said only twice have the Twolves won all four games of a four game road trip. I know it is weird sounding, but it is true. Even with the greatness of the man pictured above they were unable to do it. But then again he was surrounded by losers.

These Timberwolves of today are playing like a real team. They suck when it doesn't matter and play real basket ball when it does.

Hey the game doesn't start until half way through the fourth, so as long as you are within 15 points and aren't in foul trouble you've got a shot.

Kick Em’ When They’re Down

The Wolves are on to round two and they have a fine ally, The Kings. What a great home town paper this is. There is nothing like ripping your top player just when the season gets tough.

I know Webber has had a crazy season with injuries and scandals but is now the time to lay into him? All I can say is thanks to the staff at the Bee.

WALLY

Wally S.

Did Wally Szczerbiak even take shots
during all his time off? I can
understand goofing up plays or being
slow on defense but man he is really
choking on some wide open shots.
Maybe it doesn't really matter the
T-Wolves still won by double digits.

This picture is straight out of "New
Kidz on the Block". I think this is the
new ad campaign for Geranimals.
