More MP3 Conversion

More mp3 conversion. I am now in the U's and find that this is not as tedius as I had thought it would be. I've been able to listen to many cds that I had not had out in years. Right now I have on Unrest and it is awesome. The entire process has tacken 1 month so far and only 4 small letters to go!

MP3 Conversion

I'm in the process of converting my entire cd collection over to mp3. When finished I will purchase a mp3 jukebox that will sit at my stereo and access the mp3 files from my linux server over the network.

I haven't decided on a product yet. At first I was leaning towards the Turtle Beach AudioTron, but I'm having second thoughts. It's biggest faults are that it only will catalog 30,000 songs. This might seem like a lot but it really isn't. The other big drawback is that it would seem possible for this device to also access photo and movie files. The AudioTron doesn't seem to be headed in that direction. I am open to sugestions???

MidiMan Duo and tip

I finally did buy a MidiMan Duo. 2 of the 3 songs on the new Mountain Singers EP were recored using this. Since then I have found many new fixes and am quite happy with my purchase.

One of the main fixes is that with a laptop and a Pentium 4 processor you need to shut off SpeedStep. What is SpeedStep? Well I believe it slows down the processor during calm times in order to preserve battery time. How is that for techincal?
