Google Desktop reveals password protected and encrypted files.

If you are enamored by the new Google Desktop tool, which allows you search and access your documents as quickly as the Google internet search engine does, then you you should be warned of some basic flaws.

If you have a document that is password protected or encrypted the Google Desktop application will cache the contents of the document when you open it.

Once it is cached anyone with access you desktop would be able to view the contents of this document by viewing the cached version of the document.

For example if you have a spreadsheet entitled passwords.xls and then you password protect this document you would think it would be safe. As soon as you open the document the Google Desktop application records all of the data into its database and anytime someone uses the application they would be able to open it.

The application allows you to view a cached version of the document instead of the origional.

U.S. Rejects North Korea Demand for Direct Talks

North Korea then went on to demand that the United States enter into direct one on one talks with them.

The White House declined such a notion and replied, "No one within the White House speaks Korean and therefore such talks would be useless."
